Job Description

idverde is the leading provider of “green services” to local authorities and other public bodies in the UK. It has over a thousand employees nationally and is growing fast. Services provided include grounds maintenance in parks and open spaces, cleansing, and landscape construction.

1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To work predominately as a lone worker and as part of the team when required to deliver a quality service to our clients and customers.

Effective communication with your foreman, Supervisor, Manager and customers.

Effective, reliable and responsible performance of work tasks.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Customer

  • Customer Care:  

To create a positive impression with our customers and work to exceed their expectations, presenting a polite and responsible attitude at all times.

  • Customer Contact:

To communicate with customers politely and professionally and accurately report customer comments to managers.

  • Customer Promotion:

To understand what the company does, promote the company wherever possible and feedback potential leads from sites and local press.

  • Corporate Image:

To wear the correct corporate clothing and ensure vehicles and machinery are professionally presented and that sites are kept clean and tidy.

Internal

  • Personal Effectiveness:

To act in a professional and confident manner, to accept responsibility and to work effectively as part of the team to achieve results.

  • Communication:

To communicate effectively, to keep managers informed, and to listen and ask questions to ensure understanding.

  • Planning and Organisation:

To be efficient and organised, working to company systems, eg timesheets, works control ticksheets, rotas, absence request forms, etc to ensure that contractual performance obligations are met.

Health & Safety

To read, understand and work to the company’s Health & Safety Policy and use correct PPE:  high-viz vest, ear defenders, gloves etc.  To ensure that any plant/equipment is used safely and only after suitable training has been given.  To understand and work to risk assessments and COSHH assessments and to report accidents and near misses.  To report any potential health & safety issues to your manger/supervisor or foreman.

  • Work Attendance:

To be reliable in your attendance at work and to follow company rules and procedures if absent from work for any reason.

Company Systems:

To be efficient and organised, working to company systems: eg  job sheets, quality completion sheets, time sheets and invoices.

Learning

  • Development Reviews:

To make good use of the opportunity to discuss your work and and review your job specification and to take an active part in planning changes and improvements as appropriate.

  • Training:

To be suitably trained/qualified for all work tasks undertaken, taking training opportunities where relevant through the Company’s IiP programme.

  • Innovation:

To identify opportunities and suggest alternative, better, more effective ways of doing things.

Financial

  • Cost Control:

To act to help the company control costs and avoid wastage wherever possible.

  • Care of Machinery:

To know the correct machine for the job and to understand the maintenance requirements of machinery and ensure appropriate checks and records are kept.

  • Productivity:

To utilise best, most economic and effective work practices.  To take responsibility as part of the team for delivering a quality service.  To show initiative and make suggestions for improvements that may lead to increased productivity.

  • Security:

To show a rigorous concern for the security of company buildings, vehicles, machinery and materials.

 3. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience of working in the landscape/maintenance industry would be advantageous although full training would be provided
  • Responsibilities would include;
  • the collection and removal of litter from contractually designated areas.
  • the maintenance and emptying of client owned litter bins.
  • the removal of fly-tipping
  • to provide occasional support outside normal working hours as and when agreed with management
  • to empty litter bins in accordance with the Company’s schedule.
  • to apply grit to roads and pavements or similar duties in the event of adverse weather conditions
